• ​Instructor Guidance: Your instructor will provide step-by-step instructions and feedback throughout the lesson. They may use dual controls to assist with braking or accelerating if necessary.

• Building Confidence: The focus will be on helping you feel comfortable behind the wheel and building your confidence gradually.

• Questions and Clarifications: Feel free to ask questions at any point during the lesson if you are unsure about anything.

• Post-Lesson Review: At the end of the lesson, your instructor will review what you have learned, highlight areas that need improvement, and discuss the plan for future lessons.

• Progression: Each lesson will be tailored to your level of experience and driving ability and adjusted to suit you as you progress toward readiness for your Driving Test.

Preparation

• Observation: Understand the importance of checking mirrors and blind spots regularly.

• Speed Awareness: Learn to observe and adhere to speed limits.

• Following Distance: Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.
   

First Lesson Introduction to the Vehicle:

• Controls and Instruments: Familiarize yourself with the car’s controls such as the steering wheel, pedals, indicators, and dashboard instruments.

• Seat and Mirror Adjustment: Learn how to adjust your seat and mirrors for optimal visibility and comfort.

• Seatbelt: Ensure your seatbelt is fastened properly.
   

First Lesson Basic Operations:

• Starting the Car: Learn the correct procedure to start the car, including checking the gear and applying the handbrake.

• Steering: Practice holding and turning the steering wheel correctly.

• Pedal Control: Get a feel for the accelerator, brake, and clutch (if driving a manual car).
   

First Lesson Basic Driving Skills:

• Moving Off and Stopping: Learn how to move the car from a stationary position smoothly and how to bring it to a controlled stop.

• Straight-Line Driving: Practice driving in a straight line, maintaining a steady speed, and keeping the car centered in the lane.

• Turning: Learn how to make safe left and right turns, including signaling and checking for other road users.
